" The Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in their several verdicts have clearly stated that no school in the country shall function without sufficient toilet facilities. The department is abide by the order of the Hon’ble Supreme Court and hence desires to collect the details of the toilets and drinking water facilities available in Govt./Aided/Un-Aided higher secondary schools in the state. In the light of the order of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, the Principals of all government, aided and un aided schools in the state should ascertain that there are enough toilets (With water) and drinking water facilities in their school. The Principals/Managers of all the schools should initiate immediate steps to make all the toilets in their school operational and provide it with sufficient water facility (If defunct) and ensure that the students of their school are not suffering for want of toilets and drinking water facility.(Several requests are being received in the department from students for providing sufficient toilets and drinking water facilities) If there are not enough toilets in the school, they should also take immediate steps to construct sufficient number of toilets and provide drinking water facility in their school. The department allots funds for constructing toilets and providing drinking water facilities in government higher secondary schools every year subject to the availability of funds. "
