EARNED LEAVE CALCULATION IN VACATION DEPARTMENT :CLARIFICATION:GO(P)75/2010/FIN

- Amendment of the Rules.In Part I of the Kerala Service Rules, after rule 81, the following rule shall be inserted, namely:--- "81 A. The earned leave admissible to an officer in permanent employ in the vacation department, who is prevented from availing himself of vacation in full and whose actual period of duty is less than one year due to superannuation, shall be calculated in such proportion for full block year as the number of days of actual duty bears to the full year. The amount of earned leave admissible shall be worked out under the formula given below,- "Number of days of vacation duty x 30 x Days of actual duty Full vacation 365/366
- Explanatory Note (This does not form part of the notification, but is intended to indicate its general purport.) As per the present formula, derived in terms of provisions in rule 81 Part ! Kerala Service Rules, for calculation of earned leave in vacation department for the period for which an officer is prevented from availing himself of vacation in full represents that for 12 months of actual duty in the department and is not applicable for vacation duty in the case of officers whose actual duty is less than one block year. Hence Government have decided to insert Rule 81 A for calculation of carned leave admissible to those who performed vacation duty in part and who could not complete 12 months of actual duty in the last year of service due to superannuation, for which Kerala Service Rules Part I has to be amended, This notification is intended to achieve the above object
